Water Polo - Club Daily To Do List

How many are still doing your Daily List:

Monday: Sleep with a water polo ball
Tuesday: Pass It On - at workout
Wed: Squeeze a tennis ball
Thur: Mirror faking 3 mins
Fri: Look up facts about Water Polo
Sat: Share a fact about Water Polo
Sunday: Pass it on - at home!!!

Exclusion Rule

PLEASE READ - ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND.

The re-entry area is located nearest to the player’s own goal line outside the field of play, near the team’s bench and opposite of the scoring table. However, it is always best to ask the referees before the start of the game for the exact location.

An excluded player shall move to the re-entry area without leaving the water. An excluded player who leaves the water shall be deemed guilty of an offense called Misconduct, in which the player is no longer eligible to participate. On reaching the
re-entry area, the excluded player shall be required to visibly rise to the surface of the water before the player (or a substitute) shall be permitted to re-enter.

The excluded player or a substitute shall be permitted to re-enter the field of play after the earliest occurrence of one of the following:
(a) when 20 seconds of actual play have elapsed, at which time the secretary shall raise the appropriate flag provided that the excluded player has reached the reentry area;
(b) when a goal has been scored;
(c) when the excluded player’s team has retaken possession of the ball during actual play. Once the player has reached the exclusion area, the player may enter the field of play without any signal from the table or the referee.
(d) when the excluded player’s team is awarded a free throw or goal throw, the referee’s signal to award the throw qualifies as the re-entry signal, provided that the excluded player has reached the re-entry area.

Once the excluded player is eligible to re-enter the field of play, the player shall not jump or push off from the side or wall of the pool or field of play, as well as affect the alignment of the goal. Improper re-entry will lead to another exclusion or possibly a penalty shot.

At our workouts the re-entry area is away from the side the ref is standing.

New Years - Club (last one)

Connor: Play aggressive - sometimes you pull out of counter attacks, it is almost like you are afraid of being part of the offense. Play hard, play aggressive.

Josh: You can be a great player - it is up to you. BUT you have to put the time in away from the water.... you have to study the #ing system, think of ways to score, think about the game outside workout. If you only put in half the amount of time you spend on video games you would be such an awesome player.

Jared: Play tough, don't let anyone take that ball from you!!!

Derek: In these next few months work hard on your passing and catching... Doing a great job!!

Joey: Want you to work on swimming with your head down and on your egg beat kick. Don't give up!!

New Years - for Club

Nelson: Egg Beater - you are not doing the kick correctly and need to work do it correctly all the time - it will be harder for a while but without doing the eggbeater kick correctly it will be hard to continue to improve.

Jake: Faster movements - everything from shooting, swimming, making a move to the ball.

Adam: Learn from your mistakes and don't get so down on yourself when you do make a mistake.

Eleanor: From day 1 (Jan 6th) I want to see you step it up - and you are always involved in the offense!! Setting, Driving, Counter Attack, help teammates!!

Ryan: Protecting the ball on the wings and still being able to make the pass.

Tyler: Learn the defensive positioning. Use your speed - esp in this age group!!

David: Playing defense: when to foul - when not to foul - how hard to foul, easy to foul - positioning.

Max: Leeeeeggggsss!!!! This will help every part of your game

Zach: Get to know the game - watch, ask questions!! So in the game you have the confidence to play the game without thinking, but just going out and doing it!!

Skyler: Head up and don't be afraid of the ball or others when they defend you. Don't close your eyes like someone is going to hit you.

New Year

Here are a few more resolutions for the club players:

Hunter: Work your legs hard - by the summer we want you to be able to get up so we can see the top of your suit. Don't hold on the wall - ever!!!!
McCarthy: Use your speed in the game - you are one of our faster swimmers. Every time you swim it is at a 110% or you are not moving at all.
Santana: Work your legs - never let your shoulders go under the water, even when waiting for your turn to shoot the ball. During Leg drills work your legs!
Gabby: Work on your swimming stroke - really stretch and rest your hand out in front for a while before you pull back. By summer I would like to see you one of our faster players.
Fee: Do not turn your head - watch the ball meet your hand - don't close your eyes or turn your head and move your arms. You are getting two things: Work on your outlet passes - you have to get up and make the perfect pass each time and know where to pass the ball.

Masters Dues

Following have not paid:

Alex - Joe - Jacint - Thor (2 months) - Carlos (3 months) - Marcus (2 months) - David.

Don't forget next month to add the once a year fee of $25. This helps pay for our club registration (which I have already paid for 2008) - printing - etc - we are also getting a web site which will be use to advertise our team (the blog will be our own in house stuff).

New Year

Here are a few Resolution's for the club players: (check this blog everyday I will post a few each time) EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW WHAT ALL YOUR TEAMMATES NEED TO WORK ON (so you can help them too).

Steven: Work much harder - do everything with intensity. Be on time!!
Dr Phil: Be one Time!! Listen and think what is should look like in your head or what other players are doing and do it.
Mary: Catch the ball - use your legs to hold your body up, stop most of the speed of the ball at 1st contact. Do not make it a habit to drop the ball each time.
Al: Work on your egg beater - you have to build your legs up so you can catch and shoot the ball.
Trevor: Listen and do what you are told to do.
Emilie: You are very strong, you are very smart, you will be a good player but you have to come to every workout! Attendance!
Keith: Move to the older group - by listening and doing what you are told to do.

THE ENTIRE TEAM:
1. HAND ON THE TOP
2. DO NOT TALK WHEN COACHES ARE TALKING
3. LISTEN AND THINK AND PICTURE WHAT WE ARE TELLING YOU.
4. COMMON SENSE!!
