Master Nationals

Great job! Last year we got our butts kicked - this year we did 110% better!!! Few interesting facts:

1. did you know CHAWPS the team that tied us in the last few seconds finished in second place?
2. did you know the team that beat us in the last few second in the 40's got 4th.
3. comment of the tournament: here's the situation: Magee chases the goalie (which was OK because there were on seconds left in the quarter, Magee somehow gets the ball from the goalie and makes a backhand - Jenny, Dave and I think Brad are swimming back on defense with their man - they do not know Magee scored - Sandy says "Don't you know where the ball is at?" Dave comes back with "Sandy - Defense, Defense, Defense" Got me Dave!!!
4. our last game for the 20's the final word was "Finally" Finally we won one of the close games!! We won with 1 second left in the game!!!
5. sorry Paul could not stay the entire tournament - hope your girlfriend is better.
6. sure missed foley and carlos on sat and sunday - there went our offense but the team held together and played great.

Here is what I learned from this tournament:
-I need to condition everyone with swim sets - scrimmages did not do the job at nationals!
-Every two weeks we will be working on one part of the game - making sure everyone knows our defense, offense, counter attack - etc. Monday's conditioning and drills Wed conditioning and scrimmage (stop and go) Saturdays: Clinic with club and 30 min scrimmage 30 min situation scrimmage 30 mins scrimmage.

I am pleased with our progress - and looking forward to helping everyone improve their game which in turns helps the entire team. Can't wait till next year's Nationals: they will be at Irvine June 8-10th... mark your calendars.

If you are ever approached from other teams wanting to come out and scrimmage us - tell them yes and I will get pool time!!

Sandy
