Workout on Sat

Workout time change: The Whitney pool is closing at 2:30 pm on May 1st Sat. So our workout times will be:

11-12 noon - Waves and younger Rapids
12-1 Older Waves and Surf's
1-2:30 Older Surf's and Masters

We will have a parents meeting of the girls on the team... younger girls only. You got an earlier email from me.

Walls Family with four kids -
10th, 9th, 7th grade and another in elementary school.
Lost dad last year ago to cancer.
Mom was laid-off and the house foreclosed.
Two weeks ago, the mom was burned (2nd and 3rd degree)
over 60% of her body in a grease fire.
She is on a ventilator and in stable but critical condition.

The new phase for the Olympic Development Program will begin for our area June 5th and 6th (Sat and Sun). You must register online at usawaterpolo.com, click the ODP icon, click Registration. The cost is $120.00 you can pay on line to USWP.

Date: June 5th - Sat at MGP
10-11 am - Class
11-1 pm - Water
1-2 pm - Lunch
2-5 pm - Water

Date: June 6th - Sun at Heritage
12-1 pm Class
1-5 pm Water (bring snacks and water on deck)

While on this site read over what the program is all about, if you have questions ask me and I will help you with your questions.

I would like to following players to register: Stephen, Andre, Jarrod, Derek, Joey, Ashton, Santana, Lake, Nik, Noah, Casey, Jorge, Sam. (some of the younger players it is still very early for you to begin ODP - if you can afford to do ODP then it would be good, if you would rather wait this is not a problem (Chole, Mia, Maci, Sarah, Molly, MR, and Aaron.

Everyone who is presently in ODP will continue on unless you will be a Senior in High School next year.

Nik - Santana - Joey - Noah - Andre - Lake: On Friday please take all the caps, at least 10 Compact, 10 Junior, 10 Men's balls home and bring to MGP. If you can bring large trash bags to carry the balls... then we don't have to move the ball carts.

USA Water Polo Academic All-American

A USA Water Polo Academic All-American is a student-athlete who has a grade point average of 3.6 or higher, has competed in a USA Water Polo national event during the 2009-2010 school year, and is a current USA Water Polo Member.

Eligibility

1. Must have completed 10th, 11th, or 12th grade during Spring of 2010.

2. Be a current USA Water Polo member.

3. Competed in a USA Water Polo National Event or National Event Qualifier. Events listed below.

4. Must have a 3.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale (weighted) for entire 2009-2010 academic year.

5. GPA for academic subjects: History/Social Science, English, Mathematics, Laboratory Science, Foreign Language Arts – Visual/Performing and Computer Science.

Required Materials

1. A completed form

2. An official transcript with the official seal for the ENTIRE (2009-2010) academic year is required, faxes will NOT be accepted. Transcripts may be mailed along with the application or sent separately from the school. Materials will not be returned.

3. A completed event verification form.*

Women's 20 & Under National Championships
ODP Program Participant

Awards

1. An Academic All-American certificate will be mailed to the student-athlete.

2. Outstanding Achiever recognition is given to each individual who maintained a 4.0 GPA or higher.

Kearns and Junior Olympics

We are gearing up for the summer with: Kearns tournament June 24 - 27th (Leave Thurs - late afternoon game - leave Sunday early afternoon) and Junior Olympics. Junior Olympics will be held in Southern California (Commerce way, not Orange County way). Boys July 31 to Aug 3rd and Girls and 10's Aug 5 to Aug 8th.

Kearns we are planning on taking our 12's and up... they do not offer at 10 & Under division (we will find the 10's a tournament before JO's). Junior Olympics we are planning on taking a team in every division and will include players from other clubs to help fill out our team.

We need help from a few parents to help organize these events. If you are interest please let me know: tweetwo@cox.net.

We will end the summer program with hosting our Masters and Surf's Summer Slam - August 14-15th.

USWP Registration

It is now April and we still have players who are NOT registered!! Please sign up with USWP and send me a copy of your registration before you can enter the water at the next workout. Dr Phil, Gabby, Adam, Mike Lorring, Magee, Sam, Paul, Aram, Maxwell, Bobby and Dandy.

Olympic Development Program

Congratulation Robert Wills, Tony Chanove and Louie Bejarano! Our coaches have been hired by United States Water Polo as the Mountain Zone ODP Coaches: Robert is the Head Coach for the Boys Level 1 (8th Grade and Under), Tony and Louie will be coaching the Boys Level 3 (11th and 10th Grade).

Bill Carter from Utah has been hired to assist Robert with the Level 1 Team. Dan Kahl from Reno is the Head coach for the Level 2 (9th Grade) boys team. Not sure who has been hired on the Girls side yet.

If you are presently in ODP you will not have to tryout again, If you are returning to ODP after a year or longer absent you will have to tryout again. For those who are interested in doing ODP please go to: usawaterpolo.com - click on the ODP ion and read about the program. I highly recommend this program as this is a true pipeline to our USA Olympic Team. Before you make this decision I would like to set up a meeting with at least one parent and your child.

No Sat Easter in the Park

It was too late to get park space for Easter Egg hunt on Sat. So we are going to have our Easter Candy Hunt at workout tonight April 2nd - Friday at Heritage - normal workout times.

Team Easter Outing

This Saturday April 3rd the club is going to have a Easter Outing with free food - drinks - candy - egg hunt - games.

We are going to have the outing at Silver Springs park (1950 Silver Springs Pkwy) from 11 to 3. There is a picnic area and a bunch of open space for us to run around.

Junior Olympics

Mark will be asking you/your kids if you are planning on playing in the Junior Olympics this summer in Southern California. The dates for the tournament are:
Boys: July 31st to Aug 3rd
Girls & 10 & under Coed: Aug 5th to Aug 8th

Once we get our teams set we will as for parents help on setting up the hotel - ground - etc.
